Chocolate Pudding for two

The winter months are slowly creeping in on us down here in Melbourne. I love winter time, I know most people find winter dull, and can't wait for summer, but I think winter is snug and beautiful. That's why two years ago I packed up and left Brisbane, to come to Melbourne so I could enjoy the seasons. I love coming in from the cold to a nice warm house. I would love to have a roaring, crackling fire to come home to, it seems such a romantic notion. My little heater will have to do for now. One day though, I'll sit near a roaring fire eating this next recipe. Like a scene from a movie, a girl can dream!! Nom nom nom :)

 Chocolate Self Saucing Pudding

1 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 cup white sugar
1/4 cup cocoa powder
2/3 cup milk
50g melted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla essence

Sauce
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1 cup hot water

Pre heat the oven to 180C

Sift the flour, baking powder and cocoa into a bowl, add the sugar. Combine the milk, butter and vanilla essence together and add to the dry ingredients, stir until well combined. pour into a baking dish or frypan and spread the mixture out. Top the mixture with the brown sugar, cocoa powder and then pour over the water. Place in the oven and cook for 50 minutes or until cooked.

  2. Oh wow! If that is what pudding looks like, then us Americans have been making a poor knock-off! I have just checked the cubbards and I will be making this for dessert tonight. My fiance will be so excited! Scratch that - I am so excited!

    2. Yeah - It was To. Die. For. Todiefor. The only thing I would change would be that next time I will forego making dinner because we both just wanted to skip straight to dessert!

  5. This looks amazing, would definitely satisfy my chocolate cravings :) Ah, I understand where you're coming from about winter. Even though it's still autumn in Melbourne (I live in Melb), it has been really chilly, yet winter hasn't even started! And some days, it's sunny. Melbourne weather is crazy :P

    1. Thanks Yii-Huei,

It satisfied my cravings, I polished the last piece off last night, was delish. It has been getting really cool, it certainly feels like winter. The sun is shinning today though. You have a very nice blog, the high tea look a nice place to go for mothers day.

  7. Hi, I'm going to try that on sunday, but I was wondering how did you make the chocolaty ribbons on top of the pudding. Did you melt chocolate chips and sprinkled it over? Thanks!

    1. Hi Claudia,
Yeah I melted some chocolate and splattered it over the top with a fork, you don't need to do this as the chocolate sauce at the bottom is enough, I really just did it to make the top look nicer for the photos.
